Today we had an exclusive chance to interview Lil 6at (pronounced “Lil 6at”):
Raptology: How did you come up with a stage name?
Lil 6at: I would never sleep at night. I’ll be up doing all types of things recording chilling and eventually fall a sleep around 9am.
Raptology: Where are you from?
Lil 6at: I was born in Savannah GA and moved to Atlanta right after high school. Eventually I moved to Manhattan NY and lived there for a year then moved to LA and been here for 1 year and 2 months.
Raptology: Why did you first start making music?
Lil 6at: At first it looked cool but then I realized most the time when you a rapper you telling your story it’s art and I love art.
Raptology: Who would you say inspired you the most, as an artist?
Lil 6at: It’s a tie between Future and Uzi who really inspire me. I been listening to future since he first came out and I starting listening to Uzi in spring of 15.
Raptology: Have you heard the theory that some musicians write their best music while they’re depressed or going through a bad time?
Lil 6at: I’ve heard of that, it’s the truth. That’s when you truthful the most. You talk about your feelings, emotions and tell your story but musically.
Raptology: How do you solve productivity and overwhelm problems?
Lil 6at: I solve that by setting small realistic goals pertaining to all those problems. I won’t try to tackle all those at one time because you not really putting thought into it and focus at that point you just trying to get stuff done, but if you do them separately you can manage and take your time with each of em.
Raptology: What’s the best advice you ever received?
Lil 6at: Be consistent, don’t give up.
Raptology: How would you describe the music that you typically create?
Lil 6at: I usually make raw no auto tune plug in, catchy , melodic type songs. Now I use a little auto tune so people say I sound like an Atlanta rapper with a sad story.
Raptology: What would you have done differently if you knew then what you know now?
Lil 6at: I would definitely back in 16 go harder on SoundCloud since that’s the type of music I was making back then.
Raptology: What’s your latest release?
Lil 6at: Bankroll 6at it’s a 4 song EP produced by bankroll got it. Gucci Store seems to be popular off it.
Raptology: Who do people say you sound like?
Lil 6at: People say I sound like future and lucki mixed but with out the drugs being talked about.
Raptology:Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Lil 6at: Uzi for sure.
Raptology: If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?
Lil 6at: Uzi , Playboi Carti and chief keef. They get the crowd going!
