Today we had an exclusive chance to interview Dez Pave:
Where are you from?
I’m representing Staten Island, NY. New Brighton is my hood. There was a lot of bad times but also plenty of good times. My experiences growing up there made me who I am today.
What is still your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge is making time for family while doing this music thing. It’s still pretty hard to balance the two.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
My music is filled topics that everyone can relate to. Whether it’s grinding to get money, marriages, friendships, etc. There are situations connected to these things that people are going through everyday and my music is the soundtrack to many lives.
Best advice for handling criticism?
My advice would be to use it as motivation to take your game to the next level. You have to just accept the fact that not everybody wants to see you do well.
Favorite song to perform?
My favorite song to perform is most definitely the track “Movie” from my second project “Life Ain’t Fair”. I just love the energy it brings out of the audience.
If you can only listen to 3 albums for the rest of your life, what would they be?
That’s pretty tough because there’s been so many great albums but if I could only choose three, they would probably be “LifeLinez” by Dez Pave, “Life Ain’t Fair” by Dez Pave, and “Live 4 2day” by Dez Pave.
What do you want your legacy to be? How do you want to be remembered?
I would like to be remembered as a solid human being who always helped others. I would also want to be remembered for giving my best effort for the fans and leaving them with the hottest music.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
I would definitely take away all the gatekeepers and the politics. That stuff should never get in the way of someone’s dreams, but unfortunately it has time and time again.
Where and how do you work best?
I definitely work best when I am alone. I like to be at home with nobody around and have total silence so I can just focus.
What are you focusing your time on now?
Right now I’m putting the finishing touches on my fourth project “Another Gamble” I’ve been working on it for awhile and I’m very proud of this one. It will be available around late March or early April.
