Big Sean to Release ‘Detroit’ Mixtape on All Streaming Services

Big Sean is bringing Detroit back.

In honor of the Detroit holiday 313 Day, Big Sean has announced that his original mixtape is coming to all streaming services for the first time. Taking to Twitter, the Grammy-nominated rapper said the re-mixed and mastered project will arrive sometime in April.

“Next month the Detroit mixtape will be on all streaming services, re-mixed and mastered properly, finally! Happy 313 day tho,” he tweeted.

Sean’s critically-acclaimed Detroit mixtape, a love letter to his hometown, was released on Sept. 5, 2012 and featured appearances from Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Chris Brown, French Montana, Royce da 5’9″, and Tyga.

In September, he dropped the chart-topping sequel Detroit 2 featuring Post Malone, Travis Scott, Young Thug, and Nipsey Hussle.

“When I was making Detroit 2, I felt like I was returning to my roots but with a stronger foundation,” Sean told New York magazine. “I feel like my roots got even deeper. Not only did I reconnect with myself, I reconnected with my passion and my hunger.”

He also told fans that he’s back in the studio with Hit-Boy cooking up new music.

The announcement comes as Sean’s girlfriend Jhené Aiko released her first mixtape Sailing Soul(s) across all streaming platforms in honor of the project’s 10th anniversary.
